One Chance was created in a single, uninterrupted gesture. The paint was applied all at once, with no revisions or layering, allowing the mark to record a moment of complete commitment. As in shodō, the process permits no correction; the image that remains is the direct trace of a single decision.
The contrast between the dense white form and the black gesso ground reveals subtle variations in pressure, movement, and gravity. Softened edges and areas of abrasion show how the material responded in real time, giving the work both strength and vulnerability.
