Residual Load explores what remains after pressure has passed. Built through a layered process of application, burial, and selective removal, the painting carries traces of earlier forces beneath a dominant grey field. Fragments of colour emerge not as active gestures, but as evidence—marks revealed through resistance rather than intention.
The surface reads as held and weight-bearing, with no single element asserting dominance. Instead, balance is achieved through accumulation, obscuring, and partial release. The work reflects a structural approach to abstraction, where decisions are staged, restrained, and allowed to resolve through tension rather than expression.
